CamRebel Cold Proof Rain Cover for DSLR

Posted by ´de Bolger on 10th Jan 2020

I ordered the CamRebel DSLR-Raincover. A first one without zipper and made with warmth help of apmphotovideo they send me the new one CamRebel DSLR-Raincover with zipper afterwards.
A very big Thanks to apmphotovideo! With their great help I can give a desired gift to a friend!
The CamRebel DSLR-Raincover is very well made. The inside lining is made soft and won´t scratch anything of your camera.
The cuffs are stabil and surprising flexible. For a test I usesd a lens hood with a diameter of 8.5cm or 3.35inch, without stretching the cuff of the nozzle at least.
The CamRebel DSLR-Raincover gives you a big space for your camera and your hands inside the cover. I tested the cover with a Nikon D700 with a mounted battery grip, so the camera is the same size as Nikon D5 and the big prof Canon-bodies too.
For a first test I made a dummy. I covered it with some layers of tissue like a insideout diaper.
I left the dummy in the CamRebel DSLR-Raincover for three hours in constant harsh rain on a tripod outside.
The result was a dry "diaper" on the dummy.
    Three hours!!! Respect to CamRebel!
To improve, I sprayed textile raincloth refresher on the cuffs and seams.
After this it started my second test with the already arrived CamRebel DSLR-Raincover with zipper in nearly same weather conditions with a Nikon D700-body same prepared like the dummy. The amazing result is that all stayed dry.
The camera, the "diaper" and all inside the cover!
A third test for a lot of hours in gentle rain got the same dry result.

The plastic window of the raincover is stabil but it needs to take care about scratches to use it for long times with good sight.
I checked a 105mm lens. There is much more space for longer lenses, so I started to like the straps to short the nozzle of the CamRebel Raincover.
The bottom zipper of both covers make a tripod use easy and saved my ball head dry.
Included is a transport bag and a stretchable extra belt for fixing the lens with the nozzle if needed.
I give my reommondation for this stuff, really!

    Did the job in -27

Posted by R L Mortimer Ricks on 9th May 2019

I used this in Northern Norway this year whilst filming out there to a) keep the camera dry and warm and b) keep my hands warm with dexterity without the burden of gloves. Kept the batteries nice and warm so they didn't die on me too quickly. Ideal for very cold photography and filming. The elastic around the lense does make it a little tricky to zoom.

    Great in Finland at -20c

Posted by J. Dore on 9th May 2019

I used this in temperatures of -20c with a Canon EOS R. It allowed me to keep my hands, and the camera warm - no fogging of lenses or battery performance issues.
In practise you need to take your gloves off when using this - this is okay as its nicely insulated.
As it was very cold I had hand warmers in my gloves and transferred these into this, I'd recommend this at these temperatures.
The only slight annoyances with the design: i) the zip can come open in use letting cold air in, you can easily rig something to keep the two zipper tabs together; ii) at these temperatures the moisture coming from your hands can fog up and freeze against the back window.
The zip is usefully positioned as it allows use on a tripod.

in the rain and it had protected my camera pretty well. Touch screen works through the plastic protector

    Posted by B on 7th Mar 2019

I use this in the rain and it had protected my camera pretty well. Touch screen works through the plastic protector, but there is also plenty of room inside to manipulate the controls. I have big hands so room was a factor. It also acted as a hand warmer. It is a little bulky, but that is what makes it warm and allows for room to move around. I use it with a neck strap and I have to be a little careful how I hold it so water doesn't drip down the straps, but it is not too bad of an issue.
